But, here's what I got as a solution to my problem, wondering if it is going to get anyone else out of their issues. I tried reinstallations, reboots, and even a hard reset of the stock infotainment system in my 2016 Civic Touring. So make sure you have cell data connection available for internet connection. Every time I'd connect, the phone would charge, but nothing else would happen. Wireless Android Auto need to use phone WiFi to connect to Android Auto. Through two different Android phones (new ones: Galaxy S8+ and Google Pixel 2 XL), I had NO success in connecting them to my car and having Android Auto launch on its own.
